i just realized dr. pepper tastes like summer, when i was 10. i could smell the air, hear the sounds, mostly chlorine and splashing. the a-pool. damn, those were good summers. i remember calling the temperature information line on the phone, hoping it would be warm enough for us to be allowed to go swimming as early in the season as possible. i was scared of the high dive but one day climbed the ladder, meaning to jump, and instead i dove. scared myself silly. we ate a lot of big hunks and, apparently, drank a lot of dr. pepper.

there are few things lin life so wonderful together as bread and chocolate. whether it be in a chocolatine from the french bakery, or just slightly dry french bread dipped in hot chocolate, these two things wedded on my tongue make me a very happy girl.

last night for dinner, jim made a modified chicken cordon bleu, using an herb crust rather than the more usual breadcrumb version. it was divine. he really is a wonderful cook, and this week has promised to cook every night, except thursday, when i am to make baked ziti. mmmmm, ziti...

what with my newfound resolve to get rid of things, and make our small living space more navigable, it is not so difficult to cook, nor clean up. we still have way too much stuff, but it is somewhat less than last month, and it is organized in a better manner.
